Bantam B Girls win silver at the BCLA Minor Box Provincial Championships!
Congratulations to the Langley Thunder Bantam B Female team for placing 2nd this past weekend at the BCLA Provincial Championships in Port Coquitlam. The girls lost 6-3 in a fast-paced, hard fought battle against Nanaimo in the gold medal game on Sunday morning after a stellar performance overall in the tournament.
The girls took on teams from Victoria, Coquitlam, Mission, and Port Coquitlam in addition to the team from Nanaimo in round robin play, winning all games except against Nanaimo. The girls knew they were in tough against Nanaimo in the finals and played their hearts out, leaving everything out there on the floor at the end of the game.
Head Coach-Rob Boreson and Assistant Coach-Kevin Taylor are extremely proud of this team! They started this season with 8 girls on a roster of 21 that had never held a lacrosse stick. After an early season loss and 2 ties as our new girls learned some basic lacrosse skills and about game play, this team then proceeded to win all further league games to place first in the lower mainland in their division. The girls worked tremendously hard this season really coming together as a TEAM, and their post-season success is a tribute to all that hard work!
Additional congratulations to the individual game MVP winners: Macie Beck-Boreson (#4), Amy Ralph (#10), Tatum Colwell (#19), Hope Nystrom (#21) and Kaylyn Williams (#14).
The overall tournament team MVP award for Langley Thunder went to Macie Beck-Boreson (#4), who received the most votes for game MVP from the opposing teams during the tournament.
Jordan Reed (#6) received this season’s “Fair Play Award” for exemplifying sportsmanship throughout the season, demonstrating great effort towards the team and playing the game with integrity.
Head Coach, Rob Boreson was also awarded this season’s “Fair Play Coaches Award”, having been nominated by his fellow coaches. Congrats Rob! Job well done!
