Box Lacrosse 2016 Overview

Langley Minor  Lacrosse Association offers teams starting with kids who turn 5 years old the year of registration.   We do try to offer all girls teams in Novice through to Junior however the success of these teams depends on registration numbers.

The Box Lacrosse Season runs from January until the end of July for most divisions, this is a glimpse of what each month may include:

JANUARY

Registration begins (all registration is done on-line)

Early Bird Registration discounts

FEBRUARYMARCH

Registration continues at an increased rate

Brush off seasons & Skill development clinics

MARCH

Registration continues at an increased rate

Evaluations begin for Novice and above (no evaluation for all female teams)

APRIL

Team practices start, possible tiering games for Novice and above

Regular Season games begin teams – approx. 16-20 in a season

Tournaments that your team may enter

MAYJUNE

2 practices & 2 league games (one home, one away) each week for Novice and above

1 or 2 practices & games per week for Mini-Tyke & Tyke

Tournaments that your team may enter

JUNE

Tournaments that your team may enter

Mini Tyke, Tyke & Novice finish their season by the end of June

JULY

Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget and Female Provincial competition

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR BOX LACROSSE

Lacrosse equipment is available from a variety of sporting goods stores. For those who play box lacrosse, field lacrosse and/or hockey, the same equipment can be used.  A Hockey Box lacrosse or Field lacrosse helmet can be used however ALL masks must be wire and meet prescribed safety standards (there are no exceptions to this rule), shoulder pads, kidney pads, gloves, elbow pads, athletic support with cup for boys, Jill for girls, mouth guard, and good running shoes

MINI-TYKE and TYKE

All of the above, knee pads slash guards are optional

NOVICE and ABOVE

All of the above, plus slash guards

STICKS

Plastic headed stick with an aluminum or wooden shaft must be provided by the player

GOALIES

Goalie equipment can be borrowed from the Association (Helmet, gloves, stick and jock not included).

Goalies that provide ALL of their own equipment may request a discount on Registration

TEAMS OFFERED

Mini Tyke and Tyke are mixed boys & girls teams

Novice and above girls have the choice to play on a female only team or continue on with the boys

LMLA does however reserve the right to place a boy on a male team over a female if there is a number issue.
